Canine Hall Of Fame

Bear is Lees right hand girl on every shoot day. She is probably one of the most enthusiastic picking up dogs and with what she lacks in size, she makes up for in determination and intelligence. Bear has an exceptional nose and whilst she is happy to join the beating line her forte is definitely in the picking up line. With an eye as keen as a hawk this little girl can find almost any fallen bird.

Tess belongs to Kerry and is the cover girl of our setup, having graced the front cover of Gundog Journal in 2019, Tess is one of the key players in our beating line up. At only 9 kg she is probably one of the smallest dogs we have but by far one of the bravest and earns her keep by flushing some of the tightest sat birds from the smallest spaces. 

Fly is one of Kerry's many cocker buddies. She is from Tess's first litter of pups, by Yorkshire Guinness of Fielddale, the same sire as Bear and Snipe. She possesses the energy and drive of her mum but also the brains, strength and bravery as her two siblings. She can be found in the beating line every shoot day.

Snipe, another of Kerry's gang, can turn his paws to anything. He is a strong and brave dog that will battle through tough brush and undergrowth but can also be careful as a cat when needed. He's a strong and loyal dog who's intelligent and driven enough to join the picking up line when needed, he's also a legend on the ducks and pigeons. Snipe has been retained as a stud dog and available for covering to working homes only.

Widge, as she's lovingly known at home, is the baby of the bunch. Only born is 2023 Wigeon is yet to take her debut here at Methley, but were sure shell bring plenty to the table when she does.

Frankie, a big boisterous lump of a dog who came to us as an unruly youngster after not settling into family life. He learnt his trade out in the field. He is the partner of our youngest son Joe who along with his dad Lee has trained him successfully to be an integral part of our picking up team. Hes our go to man for any lost birds even if he does like to dance about whilst doing his job.

Milo, another reprobate with a 2nd chance career came to us at 7 month old after being far too boisterous for the family home. Our oldest son Will took him under his wing and trained him to beat and pick up. Not only is he a very useful dog to have on board he is a firm favourite and real ladies man. 

Eva is not only an exceptional wild fowling dog she loves to turn her paws to a spot of beating where she bosses the line with her dad JC. Eva regularly takes the lead and will work the hardest of terrain, collecting downed birds along the way.

Jet and Pete owned by Derek Stead are quite simply the epitome of working dogs. Disciplined, honest, hardworking and strong. A real honour to have these two wonderful dogs in our picking up team.

Paul is the newest member of our picking up team, he has three wonderful dogs of various ages and abilities. The are all exceptionally well behaved and trained and we feel incredibly lucky to have them on our team. 

We think we have the best beating team and dogs in West Yorkshire, i'm sure every shoot does. However we do have some quite spectacular canines who we are exceptionally proud of.
