Here at Methley, we pride ourselves on not only offering outstanding shooting, but a fantastic experience. We understand your time is valuable and what better way to spend it, than enjoying your hobby in beautiful surroundings with fun, like minded people.
Our day begins around 9 am, with a short safety brief and for our new clients an outline of the day ahead. If you fancy your chances you can place a bet at the beginning of the day on our sweepstake for the bag and number of shots.
Our head keeper and picking up team will direct you to one of our buggies to be transported to your first drive. We aim to get all our guns as close to the peg as possible however, we do try to be courteous to our neighbours and neighbouring farmers and occasionally you may have to endure a short walk.
The morning will proceed with a few driven drives where we hope to produce a variety of pheasant, partridge and in some cases duck. Make sure to watch out for those pesky white pheasants. If you miss, they'll earn you a tidy fine, however if you have your eye in and manage to hit one you'll land your team of guns with the bill.
We indulge in 11's with a tipple of gin and prosecco and a snack before continuing the morning hoping to secure at least half the estimated bag before lunch.
Lunch time varies depending on the time of year, we like to make sure we have plenty in the bag during the shorter days before breaking for lunch but be assured, you'll definitely get fed by Mama Joyce.
After lunch and a short break in the shoot lodge, you'll once again be directed to your buggy to be transported to the next drive, the afternoon will proceed much the same as the morning until either the bag is achieved or the light fails.
The day concludes with a count up back at the lodge, and the draw of the sweepstake.
We invite all our guns to join us for a leisurely drink at our local to relay the days highlights in a wonderful cosy setting.
Never fear when your with us, you wont go hungry or thirsty.
Prior to the start of our shooting day we invite all guns, beaters and picking up team to join us for breakfast at the shoot lodge. We love the informality of breakfast where everyone gets to mingle and get to know each other, we find both sides of our shoot have a great relationship, we don't have a shoot without our guns or our beaters and this is a great chance to exchange tales and experiences. Our breakfast sandwiches are cooked fresh to order in the shoot lodge every shoot morning and accompanied by as much tea or coffee as you need.
11's can vary in time but its always the same quality and eagerly awaited by all. This consists of Andrew Jones award winning Pork Pies and Sausage Rolls accompanied with pickles and condiments and topped off with a Sloe gin and Prosecco tipple. If that's not enough we have our very own top cake maker Rachel who supplies us with the most delicious cakes and cookies to round off 11's.
Dinner time is served back at the shoot lodge usually between 12.30 pm and 1 pm. We try our best to vary our menu and welcome suggestions, but you will always be served with a warm homemade dinner compliments of mama Joyce and slice of cake topped off with unlimited tea and coffee.
Upon acknowledgement of booking, we require a copy of your valid shotgun certificate. Unfortunately we cannot accept air rifles or automatic firearms and you will be turned away should you present with either.
Only fibre wad cartridges are permitted on driven days. steel only for wildfowling,
All guns are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear including any Ear and Eye protection, however this is not compulsory or supplied by Methley Field Sports and therefore is at your discretion.
We advise all guns to hold valid insurance and you will be required to read and sign a copy of our terms and conditions prior to shooting with us.
We expect all clients to be smartly dressed in appearance or in traditional shooting attire of tweed and follow the general code of conduct as outlined by ourselves including traditional shooting etiquette.
We primarily expect everyone to stay safe and abide by shoot rules to ensure a pleasant and successful sporting day.
